I couldn't decide which of these two pictures to choose for my favorite part of the book so far, when pip is leaving and he is regretting his decision to leave his life behind. They capture the idea in different ways, the carriage is showing that he is moving forward and the skeleton with the human shadow because he is looking back at what he had. I decided that even though we were only supposed to put one picture up I'd put two to tie the views of the same moment together. The moment being a point where pip shows us once again that he isn't a jerk all the time but only most of the time, by feeling genuine emotion and showing it through crying and his thoughts of getting out of the vehicle and walking back to his family. I think he feels the worst about not having Joe walk with him to leave. Even though in the moment he seamed very confident he was just overcompensating for the extreme feelings of separation he is going to have later.

my three points about aunt agusta are her saying she doesn't want to undecieve her husband, her thinkning that cecily is more attractive with money and her saying that jack is not on her list of eligible young men.
how do you think i should order them and transition to the next paragraph? whomever goes after me. I am also having trouble bringing it all together.

Earnest Research

In researching the Victorian Era I didn't see much need. but then getting into the play I am glad we were required too. It made two things more easy to understand. the first being the marriage factor and the second the classes playing a huge roll in everything.
In marriage, I would have been quite confused by why an 18 year old woman would want to marry a 30 something year old man. the woman would have been lucky to get someone this young it was typical for men in their forties to marry teenagers. which now is rare if not illegal depending on the age of the teenager. The role of the actual marriage is only to bond two families wealth. so this marriage of love is a strange thing of the times as alluded to by the men when they said, "The number of women in London who flirt with their husbands is perfectly scandalous!" this just shows that marriage is not a thing of romance purely wealth.
that brings me to the class section of this blog. The classes are a huge role in everything that happened in the time. I always thought of the butlers as sassy and very pessimistic due to them working for someone of higher class than them. This is proven when lane says, "It never is, sir." in regards to Algernon telling him that tomorrow is going to be a good day. The classes have a roll in the marriage too, as soon as Aunt Augusta learns that Cecily has a huge amount of money she is interested in her. this is because if her nephew Algernon marries her she gets a large amount of wealth and based on many hours of research I can conclude that class is directly related to wealth.

2010

My biggest problem when it comes to anything not just school related items is, as the world could guess, procrastination. I put everything off until the last possible moment, which oftern leads to losing sleep and not a lot of focus the next day. This is not just a one year thing i will be battling this ailment for the rest of my life. Some ways I can work on this are doing my homework at a reasonable hour and when I'm asked to do a chore, (i.e. feed the cat) I'll do it when I'm told instead of saying I'll doing it later and eventually just not doing it. My guess would be that as I mature the urge to procrasinate will increase, making the job of resisting this urge harder, so I need to begin my life long struggle as soon as possible. Although I find it silly that people wait to make changes in their lives until a certain date, I decided to join the trend and quit complaining.
Take that world.

poems

the first of the teo poems i watched was "Unknown Girl in the Maturnity Ward" by Anne Sexton. Amanda fernandez uses drama to make this poem special and attention grabing, she uses the shifts and puts emphasis on certain lines. everyword is articulated to the syllable and is perfectly heard by all, she expresses the emotions of the poem through her face. She really seams to understand the poem, (no wonder she was in the best preformances) even though is really difficult and long. The second, also in the best preformances, "Forgetfulness" by Billy Collins. Jackson Hille uses the humor of the poem to his advantage. It is much shorter and uses more common words the difficulty of this poem rivals the first through ---->"so what?"<----. The satire in the poem making fun of everything about losing your memory is witty and amusing and he increased this through his understanding and phrasing when reciting it.
The first poems meaning is pretty obvious a new mother in a hospital, not only being celebrated but judged by the people that see her only as the single mom with the bastard(in its literal meaning) child. They don't see the light eminating from her face, they only notice the empty place where the father should be, adding the melancholy element to the poem. The second poem is more of the humor in getting old and all the disuseful knowlage you aquire over the years that just seams to slip away with every new piece. The frustration that you experience through once being able to remember something then one day having no idea it exsists. through it's humor you can see the real emotion and meaning, the longing for youth.

motif

Prior to the summer assignment if someone asked me what a motif was i would have been unable to respond correctly, now after reading To Kill a Mockingbird i understand the meaning more. A reaccuring thing that captures the theme of the book.
In the story, the title is the phrase in which the motif is based. It is a sin to kill a mockingbird because the are innocent. There are two main examples, Boo Radley, and Tom robinson. Tom's innocence is easily recognised because he is in a trial. He was convicted of a crime that he obviously didn't commit. Boo's innocence is just a little deeper. The town sees him as a lost cause that should be shut up in his house, while he just wants to help people. The children are interested in boo because of his exile from society, he connects with them because they don't judge him as harshly as the adults of Maycomb do.
